The Flemington New Years program has been brought forward.

Debates at Flemington on New Years Day will start early and early as Victorian race officials look to help participants beat the heat on Saturday.

With a 36-degree high predicted for Melbourne to kick off in 2021, the card at Flemington has been put forward two hours.

This means that the first must jump at 10:35 am, with the last on the map of the nine races scheduled for 3:00 pm (every hour in AEDT).

A statement from Racing Victoria said they expected the heat to peak after the races were over.

“The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) predicts temperatures in Flemington will peak between 4 pm and 5 pm. So, in the interest of the welfare of the horses and the welfare of the racing participants, RV and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) jointly made the decision to move the meeting forward, ”the statement read. RV.

As part of the schedule change, in accordance with the heat policy, horses will only have to be on the track one hour before their scheduled race.
