East Meets West Parent Education Club (EMWPEC) will host its Lunar New Year Gala online on February 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the Year of the Ox in 2021, and the New Year begins on the first day of the Chinese calendar, which typically falls in February, with the festivities extending for 15 days.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many local Lunar New Year celebrations have been canceled. But EMWPEC members strive to continue these important and cultural celebratory ceremonies while ensuring the safety of the community.
The show gala will highlight the Lunar New Year performing arts and many exciting entertainment activities. The goal is to continue raising a crisis relief fund to help local schools with post-pandemic recovery, including providing much needed PPE equipment and supplies to staff and students for the reopening. schools in the spring.
Following last year’s face mask / face shield donation fundraising projects, the 2021 Lunar New Year Gala is another community event that EMWPEC will host to bring the community together.
