HAINES CITY— The Haines City Police Department is searching for a Haines City man in a fatal shooting that occurred minutes after the New Year.

According to the HCPD, Jeffery Jerome Bouiye, 42, shot dead Michael Andre Jackson, 47, near North 12th Street and Avenue I near New Beulah Missionary Baptist around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday.

In a statement, the agency said Jackson was driven to AdventHealth Heart of Florida with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead before 1 a.m.

Witnesses told police Bouiye was angry with Jackson because he believed Jackson was involved with a woman Bouiye was dating. Detectives said Jackson walked away from the argument and that was when Bouiye pulled out a handgun and shot him multiple times. Bouiye then left by car.

“This killer has to get off the streets,” Haines Town Police Chief Jim Elensky said. “If anyone knows anything about this murder and / or can help locate the suspect, please contact us or contact Crime Stoppers.”

Jeffery Jerome Bouiye, 42, is charged with first degree murder, using a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
