As the government gives England the green light to celebrate the New Year appropriately, many people wake up a little disoriented on New Year’s Day.

Many places will close or operate at reduced hours on New Years Day, so if you anticipate needing a cure for a New Year’s hangover, it’s worth making sure your local is open. .

Here is the list of store opening hours on New Year’s Day:
Asda will be open on New Years Day
It will operate according to its Sunday hours and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the opening hours of your local stores, you can check them using the Asda store finder .
Doors will remain open on New Year’s Day, with the supermarket chain opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m.
However, it is always worth checking your local store on the store’s website.
The German store will be closed on New Year’s Day, but will reopen to customers from 10 a.m. on Sunday January 2.
On bank holiday Monday, it will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On New Year’s Day, most stores will be open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Larger New Years stores, however, appear to be listed as closed – but not all as some open for reduced hours.
For New Year’s Day, most Express stores appear to be open 8am-10pm but may vary.

The inexpensive supermarket will close on New Year’s Day as it has done in previous years.
Aldi has opened all of its stores longer this year to give people more time to shop ahead of Christmas.
After the New Year, most shops will resume normal opening hours, with the exception of shops in Scotland which will remain open longer.
B&M will close most of its stores across the UK on New Years Day.
On New Year’s Eve (Friday, December 31), stores will open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., remaining closed on New Year’s Day.
They will be back to normal from January 2.

Home Bargains is closing its stores on New Year’s Day to thank staff for their hard work.
The retailer said it wanted to give workers more time to spend with family and friends during the Christmas season this year.
Typically, Home Bargains closes around 8 p.m. during the week and on Saturdays, while Sunday hours are usually until 4 p.m.
A spokesperson said: ‘We recognize how hard all of our colleagues have worked over the past year, to continue to serve the local communities that are so dependent on them.
“In light of this, we felt it was fair to reward the store teams by making the decision to close all of our stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and also to close stores early in 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Iceland will close on New Year’s Day in all of its stores.
The discount frozen food store has closed in previous years and 2022 will be no exception.
John Lewis will follow its plans from the previous year and close again on New Year’s Day.
On New Year’s Eve, most stores will continue their normal opening hours but will close around 5 p.m. You can use the store checker to find the nearest store.
M&S will close many of its stores on New Year’s Day this year, with a few exceptions.
The retailer previously closed its stores on Boxing Day to give employees a well-deserved rest after a difficult year.
However, this year it will close again on New Year’s Day like last year, but some smaller stores will remain open, such as those near gas stations.
It is likely that these stores will be open at reduced hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
M&S will return to normal opening hours on January 3 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The country’s largest chain of sterling stores will close on New Year’s Day.
Poundland said in September the decision was to allow staff to spend more time with family and friends.
Poundland stores are generally open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., until 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday, then 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The discounter also closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day last year.
Waitrose will close its stores on New Year’s Day.
A statement from its website reads: ‘On New Year’s Day our stores will be closed except for a small number which will have varying opening hours between 7am and 10pm.
