New Year’s Day began with the arrest of a Victorville female driver suspected of being intoxicated when she fatally struck a man walking around midnight.

Desirae Monique Corral, 26, remained in custody Saturday at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, with bail set at $250,000, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s booking records.

At midnight Saturday, Victorville Sheriff’s Station officials said deputies, American Medical Response and the Victorville Fire Department responded to a traffic accident with injuries and injuries at the Bear Valley Roads intersection. and Hesperia in Victorville.

Upon arrival, deputies and medical staff said the unidentified 42-year-old man died at 12:04 a.m. Deputies from the Major Accident Investigation Team responded and took charge of the investigation, sheriff’s officials said.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased man as Marcos Amay, a resident of Hesperia.

Investigators learned that Amay was crossing Bear Valley Road south when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Bear Valley Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Corral, fled the scene after the collision, according to the sheriff’s report.

Deputies located Corral in his parked car, not too far from the crash site, sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told The Daily Press on Saturday.

Corral was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing death, a hit-and-run causing death, and manslaughter with an impaired vehicle. She was then reserved for the HDDC, sheriff’s officials said.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road and northbound and southbound lanes of Hesperia Road remained closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation, which is still ongoing.
