Record breaking temperatures continue to be history in Jackson as the city closes its hottest December on record. Transient showers are likely on Friday (New Years Eve) with temperatures reaching the upper 70s. A system will move across the Great Plains and drop an intense cold front opposing this unusually warm air. A few strong storms are possible on New Years Saturday in central Mississippi. From now on, the strongest storms will occur in the northern Mississippi. A few tornadoes are not out of the question northward, with a few spinning tornadoes possible in central Mississippi. A threat of destructive wind is also present as the New Year approaches. Winter will return on Sunday with some possible snow showers in our delta counties. A few tornadoes are not out of the question northward, with a few spinning tornadoes possible in central Mississippi. A threat of destructive wind is also present on New Years Day.

Winter will return on Sunday with some possible snow showers in our Delta counties. Heavier snow showers could occur in northern Mississippi on Sunday.
