The unprecedented rise in covid cases will affect individuals’ and families’ plans for the New Year. Rising cases of infection will prevent people from venturing out of their homes and engaging in public activities. Government authorities track active instances daily and decide to take concrete measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Austin residents are expressing deep regret over their inability to celebrate the New Year. Kxan reports that groups are canceled as group members are diagnosed with the virus. The increase in the number of cases means more hardship for residents as they are likely to face more restrictions in the future.

Sellers and retailers will see a drop in sales

The restrictions will also negatively affect group parties and party planners as they will not receive orders due to covid restrictions. Kxan reports that companies will see their revenues plummet as the omicron variant spreads across the country. The first reason for concern of the administrations is to ensure the vaccination of individuals and to prevent them from going out frequently. Reports suggest that the arrival of the new year will cause a loss of capital for several small and large food vendors, fireworks stores and other retail stores that sell festive products.

Kxan quoted Dr. Desmar Walkes, of the Austin Health Authority, who said, “If they’re doing the right thing to help us do this job, hats off. The other side of the coin is that if we do nothing, we are going to end up in a situation where businesses may find it difficult to stay open because they have too many sick employees. This is therefore the critical moment. Health experts have suggested residents minimize their public engagement during the New Year celebration.

Residents must take responsibility for their health

The government must introduce strict laws against group activities to prevent rapid contamination of the new variant. There will likely be a significant increase in active covid cases following New Year’s Eve celebrations across the United States. However, citizens should consider the long-term effects and refrain from direct contact in public places.
