The “Squirrel New Years Resolution” by Pat Miller will be the featured story during the Main Street Kent New Years Walk from December 23 to January 31.  Donations of non-perishable food for “Squirrel's Helping Box” will be collected from participating businesses.

Main Street Kent features the “Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution” History Walk, a family event that promotes literacy, activity, fresh air and community.

All are invited to come downtown to read Pat Miller’s “Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution” page by page in the shopping windows of downtown Kent, while enjoying the shopping, the fresh air, the treats and hot drinks along the way.

This edition of the Story Walk will run from December 23 to January 31. 31. The story will begin at Popped! (138 E. Main St.), where printed maps will be available, or the map can be downloaded from Each window will indicate the next business to visit in order to continue the story. All guests are welcome to sign the online guest book at the end and share their New Years Resolutions on the event page. The resolutions will be shared in a showcase and on MSK social networks.

Donations of non-perishable food for “Squirrel’s Helping Box” will be collected from participating businesses, as we join “Squirrel” on its mission to “do something good for someone every day”. (Read story to learn more.) Items will be donated to Kent Social Services.

“We are excited to bring another Story Walk to the community as the need for outdoor activities is always in high demand. With the kids home for the holidays, this will be a great opportunity to get out there and do something healthy, educational and helping others, ”said Heather Malarcik, General Manager of Main Street Kent.
