Veterans Healing Camp will be celebrating the theme “Holding Out For A Hero” at the 6th Annual Nowruz “New Year” Celebration Party on Saturday, May 7 in Carson City.
You are cordially invited to join us from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Fandango Grand Ballroom Casino in Carson City. Please invite or sponsor a Veteran to your table for this beautiful and festive fundraiser that features great food, live music, dancing, a silent auction, door prizes and more. All proceeds will be donated to the local non-profit organization, Veterans Healing Camp.
We will celebrate our veterans and our heroes by bringing them to the stage to be recognized, even after their long service to our country. We will be asking all of our veterans to stand while their service branch theme song is played on the bagpipes, then walk across the stage and be recognized. Also, if you have a missing loved one, we encourage you to get up and have the hero walk in their place.
“We will see the different generations of our veterans walk through the scene, and the memory of their sacrifice will be forever sealed in our hearts”, – Shahla Fadaie, founder of Veterans Healing Camp.
Nowruz is the ancient Persian “New Year” celebrated since 1700 BC which occurs on the first day of spring at the vernal equinox. Nowruz is a time to gather with friends and family to eat, drink and celebrate life together. Veterans Healing Camp believes in God, Country and Family. Come help us celebrate the importance of the military and their role in protecting our country with this special holiday.
A central part of our celebration is the traditional Nowruz fire jump. We will use the energy of the fires to fuel rebirth and new life, releasing all the negative events of the past year. The symbolism of the fire jump is to forgive and forget, to leave the past behind and to invite health, happiness and prosperity with new beginnings.
The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with fun and camaraderie as we honor our veterans for their service. The American Legion Color Guard will present our nation’s flag as local piper Sean Cummings performs a beautiful version of Amazing Grace. The delicious buffet dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. with a selection of excellent dishes and desserts.
The event will also feature a very special speaker, Mardu Lydick from Military Animals Project. This wonderful organization literally saves lives by pairing a veteran with a specially trained service dog. She will share the exciting news the launch of the Northern Nevada chapter of the Military Animal Project. Veterans Healing Camp looks forward to an incredible partnership of working together to support our veterans.
The party continues into the night with live music and dancing by local musician Randy Ide and his amazing keyboard skills. There will also be a silent auction and door prize draw. Welcome new spring life with this memorable tribute to our veterans. It will be an unforgettable evening for all of us.
Ticket donation for Nowruz’s exciting “New Year’s Eve” celebration party to benefit the Veterans Healing Camp is only $40, and only $10 for children.
