BOILING SPRINGS, NC — Gardner-Webb women’s basketball cut the Campbell Camels’ lead to just four points with a three-point shot by The Mia Littlejohn and a sweater by Elders of Lyrissa with 4:18 to go in the fourth period. The visiting Camels then took the lead to overpower the Runnin’ Bulldogs with a final score of 66-53.

Gardner-Webb shot 37.9 percent (22 for 58) from the floor, 10.0 percent (2 for 20) from three-point range and 77.8 percent (7 for 9) from the free throw line. Gardner-Webb capitalized on 32 total points in the paint, 13 second-chance points and 21 points on turnovers.

Campbell shot 47.8% (22 for 46) from field goal range, 37.0% (10 for 27) from beyond the arc and 66.7% (12 for 18) from the line free throws. The Camels scored 11 second-chance points, 24 points in the paint and 17 points on turnovers.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs’ offensive goal effort was led by Elders of Lyrissaas the redshirted senior posted a career-high 14 points (7-8 FG, 0-1 3PT) and one assist in today’s game.

Jhessyka Williams and Alasia Smith each set up 12 points each. The pair also recorded a double-double, as Smith grabbed 13 rebounds and Williams grabbed 10 under the net. After today’s game, Smith recorded his third double-double of the season (fifth of his career). While Williams landed his fifth double-double of the season (seventh of his career).

The ‘Dogs will be back in action on Wednesday, January 5, when they take on Charleston Southern inside Paul Porter Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the action will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
